Websites are expensive. The people that make them aren’t cheap, and hosting can be expensive. Thankfully, I charged myself $0 to build my own website and my domain(trever.online) was only $1.16.
You’re probably wondering: “That’s cool, but what about hosting? That’s at least $12 a month.” Actually, it’s free with Netlify’s free tier.
Techs I Used
Netlify is a static website hosting service, WordPress and PHP are out of the question. So how did I build trever.online without them? I used a beautiful little framework called Astro.
Astro makes converting MarkDown files into statically generated pages insanely easy. Also, the JavaScript is at a minimum, which makes the website incredibly fast!
I plan on using this setup for all of my websites going forward, unless a backend is required.
I think my $1.16 site looks pretty good!
